But people like pollack, Reinhardt, Torres… these people have a certain inevitability to their work that resonates against a larger cultural context. When people saw their work it resonated because it felt like we were waiting to find it without having seen it or knowing it existed. They’re just great ideas in a very simple straightforward way. Sometimes I hear about an up and coming artist these days and the way it works is someone says do you know so and so? And I’m like no, what do they do.
