I agree with most of The Big 3 Tennis Abbey Road Signed Thank You For The Memories Shirt you’re saying. But I have a problem with the anti-sampling bit. Drum-and-Bass and Jungle were pretty much based on nothing but samples (the “amen break” in particular is like the Wilhelm Scream of music), and they’ve wound up no more or less creative than most genres. I think it’s a case where if you rip off one picture, it’s plagiarism, but if you rip off 50 in one thing, it’s college. There are some very fine lines. Oh, I absolutely love electronic music, I just realized that I was drawn more to the songs that use instruments. I’m actually recording an electronic album with one of my friends, using a shitty old Yamaha keyboard and an effects processor.

It’s insanely fun lol. I didn’t The Big 3 Tennis Abbey Road Signed Thank You For The Memories Shirt to imply. I wanted to like sample-based stuff, just that it’s hard for me too. Oh, you can’t afford a Studio Les Paul Custom run through a Marshall half-stack, picked up with a Shure SM57 run with Mogami Star-Quad cables up to a $1500 interface that plugs into a Neve console? Do you just use plugins on your laptop? You’re not a real artist. Hey, I’ve gotten into so many bullshit fights on. Reddit that are all about posturing and not even about the topic at hand. I don’t want to be a little prick who gets under someone’s skin just to prove a point. What’s the purpose? There’s enough of that on this website anyways haha.

Lol, it’s all good and you’re not The Big 3 Tennis Abbey Road Signed Thank You For The Memories Shirt. And I was being short-hand dickish), there’s just the more gray area to sampling/reworking old songs than lazy producers not wanting to take the time out to create new music. There are only so many songs that can be made melody/chord-wise, let alone pop songs. But its good to recontextualize older music into a modern aesthetic; honestly its how progress gets made musically. Even songs like Daft Punk’s “Robot Rock”, which at a glance sounds like a lazy loop of some funk song is interesting because it’s taking a phrase of music and putting a different frame around it; the electro house wasn’t a thing in 1980.
