You are correct that Acadian is Official The ‘Kunt Kollection’ Shirt from other dialects. But I disagree with the stance that it’s just because of a dialectic difference. As someone who speaks Swiss, Joual and standard Canadian French, I don’t know how “a la citrouille la carte via Bien dans ma bouche” would be idiomatic in any sense of the word. “Citrouille la carte” mimics the English syntax of “pumpkin pie” (qualifier followed by a noun) instead of the French (noun followed by a qualifier, and it’s even missing a preposition). Then the rest of the sentence sounds like cobbled together poor vocabulary because the aunt didn’t know the word for “delicious”.

Considering that OP did specify that the aunt studied in Official The ‘Kunt Kollection’ Shirt and berates OP for not speaking “proper French” (which is often synonymous with Parisian French, or at least Canadian Standard), I disagree that is is just a difference in dialectic understanding. The aunt sounds full of BS and pretends to speak, if not Parisian French, then Canadian Standard, neither of which can describe the sentence OP gave as an example. I think most people just lost the thread. It’s am I THE asshole not AN asshole. There are situations where someone was in the wrong, thus THE asshole, but not necessarily AN asshole. This is simply the nomenclature the creators of the sub chose to use.

People get hung up on the wording, but the Official The ‘Kunt Kollection’ Shirt is really “was I wrong?”. This is not generally agreed upon though and it’s the single biggest arguing point on this sub. Almost every heated thread out there comes from some people using NTA when someone’s behavior in and of itself is assholish but justified, and others using ESH to mean the exact same thing. Thank you. You see a lot of people here talking about the “justified asshole” thing and it’s ridiculous. If you are justified then the thing you are doing is fine, so you’re not an asshole. If you are being an asshole in response to someone else being an asshole, you’re not justified, you’re just the second asshole, possibly the lesser asshole, but still an asshole.
