I’ve certainly got lab The Dog Is Sleeping Nope Not Today Shirt much older than this coffee maker. And a couple of appliances in my kitchen at home. Things go quick when they’re overworked or complicated, like blenders. Everyone’s blender shits the bed cause its overworked. Cheap coffee makers have seals that crack, cheap plastic parts that warp and become brittle, switches that wear out, boilers that corrode or become easily scaled past the point of reasonable descaling, etc. Germany has strict manufacturing guidelines. Everything built and sold there has to last something like 10 years minimum… it might not be pretty, but it works and will continue to work for a decade. I’ve repaired, rebuilt, or replaced half the appliances in my house multiple times in the last decade. Going to my grandma’s house as a kid (and still now!)

Was always a trip The Dog Is Sleeping Nope Not Today Shirt in time. I remember being confused because a pack of pencil crayons she gave me said “made in West Germany” and I wasn’t aware the had not long prior been two different countries. She also had funny things like a postage calculating scale which I can’t imagine displayed accurate rates any longer as one of the categories was “postage to the US and British Empire”. It’s old and it’s not really cold enough to preserve food after a day, but it’s a very convenient size and she loves it. Her children gifted her a larger, colder, more efficient one in the early 2000s, but she has it unplugged all the time and uses it as a pantry instead. That’s German engineering for ya. I’m an American, but I admire the German work ethic and their technical prowess.

An American coffee maker The Dog Is Sleeping Nope Not Today Shirt wouldn’t last that long, due to a mixture of relatively lazy design, and planned obsolescence. In the 80’s I used to work at an appliance repair shop, we used to serve coffee makers and would repair; blenders, lawnmowers, toasters, etc. The thing that often fails is a safety feature and is a sort of temp actuated fuse. These blow if the temp gets too high (fire prevention). The other is the boiler switch that keeps the coffee hot and brews it also, it cycles constantly and can wear out. These are both replaceable. German products: were designed to be used for years, literally unkaputtbar, last for years with minimal maintenance. Warranty is laughable, because the products last longer as a point of pride, thanks to good engineering.
