The 70’s version has a noticeable brownish/orangeish blob under the Star Trek 54th Anniversary 1966 2020 All Character Signature Shirt. The Special Edition VHS tapes even started with a little documentary about what they’d changed and why that showed the unedited clip and had George talking about how originally they’d smeared Vaseline on the lense and they’d jokingly called the resulting blob “the force field.” The screenshot is misleading: The final shot looks way different in the original versions and the special editions. I’m 90% certain that is a screenshot of the more modern digital versions that added CG.
