Their older stuff is Red Jack Skellington Stop Expecting We All Know It’s Shirt electro swing, such as what came from the Soho EP, but they have progressed more into their own sound with each album just spend the whole time wishing I was listening to actual big band swing… so much more musical depth, so much more syncopation to dance to! I agree. As a house/deep house fan, the stale, soft housey rhythms are mind numbingly derivative, a far cry from the intensity and inventivity of proper house music and as a jazz fan the tired samples are simply laughable compared to true jazz musicianship and creativity. The combination bores me immensely. It’s about having a danceable mix of music, where you have a swing to make you move and modern bass/synths/whatever to add a ton of extra flair.

ZIts usually more „exciting“ than normal swing, due to the Red Jack Skellington Stop Expecting We All Know It’s Shirt of electronic beats. I think dismissing entire genres based on a couple of groups is lazy and likely to lead you to miss out on some cool music. You’re a total snob in that you generalize an entire genre, that I doubt you’ve even invested any meaningful time into, and offer nothing of note; nor do you say anything that shows any passing knowledge of the complexities of music. Yeah, I get that, but the solid grooves are great for latching on to while doing stuff like cleaning, driving, etc. It is simpler and shinier I guess but I see a good place for ES! It’s great to dance to. The electronic part gets people who don’t know how to Lindy to get on the dance floor anyway. The swing bit gets the people who are more comfortable with a more structured dance style to come out. While I do love too many zoos, is it right to call it electro-swing though?

I’ve seen a lot of their concerts and subway busking performances on YouTube. They produce the Red Jack Skellington Stop Expecting We All Know It’s Shirt sound as on the records using only a baritone sax, a trumpet, and percussion. Old man over here has never heard Of this and has only heard one of these artists. Thanks for the list. My husband and I made an e-swing mix for our wedding and it was a huge hit. It was perfect because all of the age groups could get into it. Caravan Palace is insane in concert. I’ve seen them twice. It’s like 7 people on stage and they all play multiple instruments. Crowd gets super in to it too. Highly recommended. Thank you thank you thank you!! I LOVE caravan palace! (I’ve seen them live 3 times now and plan on setting them again in October!) But I never really got into other electro swing artists. I’m so excited to go through this list!
