I did know this, Official Monty Python None Shall Pass Black Knight shirt. It hurts after a while. I’m sure the cloth was better. I’ve read/seen that one is supposed to wear a belt with chainmail, that way some of the mail can be tucked above the belt thus taking a significant amount of weight off the shoulders. Never having worn it myself I cannot really confirm this though.
