When I first Nice I’m Not Mean I’m Just Too Old To Pretend I Like You Shirt it, my first thought was. The instant that it sounded a lot like “pour some sugar”. I don’t think the melodies are identical, but the overall harmony of the song, the ups, and downs of verse/chorus, the way they all sing the chorus – all combine to make this song sound like Def Leppard’s, in my opinion. I don’t think Def would win the case though. They are both extremely conventional songs written on the same scale. There’s only so many notes on a guitar and only certain sequences of notes that sound “good”, so to speak. I can guarantee you there are a million songs out there right now written by everyone from multi-million dollar recording artists to Joe Shmoe in his basement that sound similar, and not even on purpose.
