I’ve never seen any Star Trek tv series but the first movie was cool as shit to me. That’s really all I have to contribute. How many movies are there? I disagree with the sentiment that they misunderstood the concept of star trek. yes, star trek deals with a lot of philosophical questions, societal issues, etc. but there were also plenty of episodes that were dumb silly action. The movies went the action route, nothing wrong with that.

I’m sorry for I’m Done Adulting Let’s Go To Halloween Town Shirt younger fans who fell in love with what the more recent movies and series are like, but Star Trek was always about big issues, and not just about big excitement and explosions. Good modern Star Trek would have episodes about rigging election systems with alien technology, racial issues where Romulans living in the Federation are getting murdered by some serial killer or similar issues which reflect on modern problems in a Trekkie way. But instead, we’ve got action movies that blend superhero movies and Star Wars without any of the moral dilemmas. It is all flash, no bang.
