Humans basically beat the art game as far as representationalism comes(painting things). Pollocks, Rothkos, etc are humans playing with the form without any need to explicitly represent something. This playing with form is extremely hard to do. Try to paint your own Pollock and you’ll realize that. Yeah, you’ll have blotches of paint on a canvas but it will look sorta tacky. I had an artist friend’s dad who took art cause of his son and he tried a bunch of stuff. When he gave his best and trying a pollock and a Rothko he realized that it was substantially harder than it looked.
