But, do you know who isn’t? The target audience–little kids. The parents of these kids are the ones buying the SpongeBob merchandise, not us. By creating a spin-off show, merchandise potential will increase, thus increasing potential profits. This is simply an effective business model. Stephen Hillenburg would have hated it, and he’s actively stated he didn’t want a spinoff series over and over again when he was alive. They’re a disgusting company.
